Planning Council

The Planning Council Committee is the monthly meeting of all members to ensure the responsibilities of the Planning Council are achieved. This meeting is mandatory for all members and is open to the public.Every Planning Council Committee meeting allocates time on the agenda for the community (members of the public) to advice the Planning Council through their public statement of the health-care related needs of individuals living with HIV throughout the service area.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Planning Council, as specified in by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 (“RWHATEA”) are to:

  • Establish methods of obtaining input on community needs and priorities, including public meetings, conducting focus groups, convening ad hoc panels or other community forums

  • Developing an Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan for organizing and providing core medical and/or support services to individuals living with HIV

  • Establishing priorities for the allocation of funding (money) within the San Antonio Region (Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe and Wilson counties) and Health Service Delivery Area (HSDAs) and determine how best to meet the priorities

  • Assess the efficacy of the Administrative Mechanism (how efficient the administrative process is toward getting funding to areas of greatest need, providing oversight to ensure that services are provided, technical support and timely invoice processing to Part A Ryan White service providers for HIV-related Health-care services rendered); and

  • Ensuring broad community involvement in all Planning Council operations, events, trainings, and reports among other requirements as they arise.

The San Antonio Ryan White Planning Council is responsible for the city-only Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan (aka Comprehensive Plan) which presents a roadmap for HIV services over five years, identifying specific goals, objectives, and activities that are needed to radically interrrupt transmission of HIV in San Antonio and it's surrounding counties. This plan is the cornerstone for planning and provides useful tools for measuring progress and success to achieving the set goals. This survey reflects the identified activities and goals that are crucial to ending the HIV epidemic and require your assistance in capturing sucessful outcomes. Please take the time to answer these questions as they relate to your program, organization, events, activities, and other initiatives that will help our community in this endeavor.
